Kauai Trip Tips: The Blog

Aloha and welcome to KauaiTripTips.com, my blog. Hi, I'm TT and this site should be a welcome place for you to come and relax, hear about the most fantastic island getaway in all of Hawaii, and begin to see Kauai through the eyes of a local.

You can go to any number of websites and read the chamber of commerce, visitor's bureau
and resort financed party line descriptions of Kauai. They will paint everything with a rose colored palette. Everything will be amazing and perfect... even when it's not.

I believe that Kauai is a wonderful place, but I also believe that sometimes you want to know the whole truth, the big picture and finer drilled down details that help you make smarter decisions about your trip to Kauai. I'll dish that out, as well as those warm and wonderful visitor bureau visions when called for.

Kauai is different than other Hawaiian islands in so many ways. Here on KauaiTripTips I'll take you with me to experience those differences through a locals eyes. And a locals camera! Pictures are current and relevant to the blog content.

North Shore - South Shore, East Side - West Side...plenty of differences and contrasts as well as local attitudes and viewpoints.  High roads, Low roads, Back roads...no roads! So many choices while you're here for such a short time. Let me help you choose the better roads and choices while you're here. And FOOD! I'll spend time steering you to the best and warning you of the worst tourist trap venues on Kauai.

KauaiTripTips should be the place to come and choose where you want to spend your precious time once you land on Kauai.

Your comments and questions are all part of this experience and we'll all benefit from them. So don't be shy...share.

  1. What is your opinion of Poipu Beach compared to the rest of the island?

  2. Good question Stockerblog. Poipu Beach is frequently in the Top Ten Beaches in the USA, and rightfully so. Its a beautiful coved out stretch of sand right in the heart of Poipu on the South Shore. Possibly the most swimmable beach on Kauai and therefore very family friendly. Lots of parking, a short walk to the beach (which can be a very welcome choice with a family in tow and various beach gear to carry). Also there is a nice food and drink deli (Brenneckes) right across the street by the parking lot. Many beaches on Kauai have strong surf and currents to deal with, Poipu Beach is protected by a reef and offers great, calm and safe ocean swimming.
    Thanks for the question...TT
